Missed deadlines lead to dismissed cases. The Schedules & Deadlines module is the chronological heartbeat of your firm. It ensures that every court appearance, filing cutoff, and client consultation is tracked, categorized, and visible to the right people.
Step 1: Accessing the Case Events Roster
To view your firm's master calendar, navigate to the left-hand sidebar under Case Management and click on Schedules & Deadlines.
This opens the Case Events list—a centralized data table displaying all upcoming (and past) critical dates. From this view, you can quickly scan:
- Event Title & Category: (e.g., "Next Court Hearing" categorized as a "Meeting (Physical)").
- Related Case: Shows exactly which file the deadline belongs to (e.g., State vs. Fouchix.), or marks it as a "General Event" if it applies to the whole firm.
- Scheduled For: The exact date and time the event takes place. Times highlighted in red indicate immediate or past-due priority.
- Scope & Location: Whether the event is "Firm-Wide" and the physical/virtual location it takes place.
Step 2: Creating a New Case Event
To log a new date, click the teal New case event button at the top right of the Case Events page.
You must define the following parameters to ensure proper routing:
- Event Title: What is the event? (e.g., Motion to Dismiss Hearing, Filing Deadline for Appeal).
- Category: Tag the nature of the event (e.g., Meeting, Court Appearance, Filing Deadline).
- Related Case (Crucial for Security): Tie the event to a specific case file. By linking it, you automatically restrict the visibility of this event to only the staff allowed behind that case's Department Wall. If left blank, it becomes a General Event.
- Scheduled For: Select the exact chronological deadline.
- Scope: Define the visibility scale. Is this strictly for the case team, a departmental notification, or a Firm-Wide announcement?
- Location: Enter the physical address (e.g., Maitama Supreme Court) or a virtual Zoom link.
Step 3: Event Editing & Accountability
If a judge reschedules a hearing, your records must reflect it instantly. From the Case Events list, simply click the Edit button next to the relevant row to update the timeline.
If the event is linked to a case, any changes to the schedule will automatically be reflected inside the Case's Pulse War Room, ensuring the entire legal team is instantly aware of the shifted deadline.
